A little know-how

From “how does this work?”
to “let’s go there.”

Start with one public Instagram reel. These guides take you from your first message to a place you can check and a plan you can make.

Your first discovery

One reel.
Four simple steps.

You send the inspiration. We look for the place. You choose where to go.

Try it on Instagram (opens Instagram in a new tab)
  1. Find and follow @holdmypin

Open the Hold My Pin profile on Instagram and check the exact handle: @holdmypin. Follow the account so it is easy to find again, then open the reel or post you want to share.

  2. Share the original reel or post

Tap Instagram’s share arrow on the post, search for holdmypin in the recipient list, select the account, and send it. You are forwarding the original post into a direct message.

  3. Read the reply and check the place

Return to your DM conversation with @holdmypin. The assistant uses the available clues to look for places and replies with Google Maps links when it finds results. A post featuring several places may produce more than one result.

  4. Save the checked listing in Google Maps

On the matching Google Maps listing, choose Save and select an existing list or create a new one. Sign in to your Google account to keep that list available when you return.

Give it a good starting point

The right reel
makes a difference.

A little context helps connect what you see to somewhere you can actually find.

A useful first post

A public reel of a café with its name on the storefront, a hotel tagged by the creator, or a restaurant named in the caption.

  • Send the original reel or its public link.
  • Start with one place you want to visit.
  • Keep the original post for context.

When more context is needed

A close-up of a dish or an unnamed landscape might not identify a specific place. Private posts and expired Stories may not be accessible.

  • Try a public post that names the venue.
  • Read the reply for missing clues or a usage limit.
  • Check the city and branch before saving.

If you get stuck

There’s another way in.

If @holdmypin does not appear in the share sheet, open our profile and send “hi”. Then return to the reel, or copy its public link and paste it into our DM conversation.

Already sent it?

Open the chat and check the response. If there is no match, a clearer public post can help. If the result points to the wrong branch, compare it with the original reel before adding it to a list.

Before you send it.

Can I send a copied Instagram link instead of sharing a reel?

Yes. Paste the URL of a public Instagram reel or post directly into the DM conversation with @holdmypin. Send the original post link so the assistant can access its context.

Do I need a separate app or Hold My Pin account?

You need an Instagram account to send DMs. You do not need another app download or a separate Hold My Pin account to try this flow. To save results to your own Google Maps lists, sign in to Google Maps.

Does Hold My Pin work with private posts or Stories?

This guide covers public Instagram reels and posts. Private, removed or otherwise unavailable content may not be accessible. Stories and screenshots sent as messages are not supported inputs for this walkthrough.

Is it free to try?

You can get started for free. Usage limits may apply, and the assistant will tell you if you reach a limit. Supporting the project with a coffee is optional.

How long will a reply take?

Processing time varies. Check the DM conversation for the reply or a usage-limit message. There is no guaranteed response time, and some posts do not contain enough clues to identify a place.

Can one reel return more than one place?

Yes, a post about several identifiable places may return multiple results. Review each location separately and check its city and branch before adding it to a list.

Give that reel somewhere to go

Your next good plan.
