The journal / Guide

One weekend. A few good places.

Turn a handful of saved reels into a day with room to wander.

Pick three possibilities, not thirty

Open your saved posts and choose a small handful that fit the kind of weekend you want. A coffee stop, one main activity and a meal can be enough to begin.

The goal is to create a few attractive options, not to finish a collection. Leave anything that requires too much travel in a separate someday list.

Put the possibilities in the same frame

Forward the public reels to @holdmypin and review any map links that come back. Confirm each place against the original post before adding it to your own list.

Look at the journeys between your choices. If they are widely spread out, keep your favorite as the anchor and look for alternatives nearby.

Give the day a little structure

Check the opening hours and any reservation requirements with the venues. Choose an approximate start and a point at which you will decide what comes next.

  • One anchor you are excited about.
  • A nearby food or coffee option.
  • A fallback for weather or queues.
  • Unplanned time between the stops.

Let the plan change

A shortlist should make choices easier when you are out, not make you feel behind schedule. Skip something if a better idea comes along.

After the weekend, keep the places you still want to try and remove the ones that no longer interest you. Your saved reels become a source of future plans without turning into homework.

Try it: a half-day plan with room to change

Set a time to leave and a time to be home. Choose one public reel about a nearby place, send it to @holdmypin and inspect the result. Check whether the journey and opening hours fit inside that window before collecting more stops.

Add one nearby meal or coffee option. For an outdoor idea, check the relevant weather and access information and keep an indoor alternative. You can hold both options in your own map list and decide closer to the time. The aim is a day you want to take, not a timetable full of obligations.

  • One anchor you care about.
  • One convenient food stop, with its hours checked.
  • A backup and some time left unallocated.

Give that reel somewhere to go

Your next good plan.
