The journal / Guide
A better way to discover your next good meal.
Use reels for inspiration, venue information for the details, and a map for the plan.

Start with the meal you want
Decide whether you want a quick lunch, a special dinner or somewhere to spend a slow morning. A visually striking restaurant may not fit the occasion, budget or people you are planning for.
Look for posts that explain the experience as well as showing the food. A named dish, neighborhood or venue gives you something concrete to investigate.
Find the place behind the post
Share a public Instagram reel or post with @holdmypin. Check the map links it returns against the original content. If the venue has several branches, confirm which branch appears in the reel.
If you already know the exact name and city, direct map search may be enough. Use the tool that helps with the information you are missing.
Separate discovery from verification
Use the restaurant’s current menu and booking information to check the details. A creator’s visit may have been for a different menu, season or service. Ask the venue directly about requirements that matter to your group.
- Current menu and prices.
- Opening days and booking policy.
- The correct location or branch.
- Dietary and accessibility questions.
Keep a shortlist for the occasion
Save a small number of checked places in your own map app. Add a nearby alternative when a booking or queue could affect the plan.
This is a workflow guide, not an independently tested ranking of food apps or restaurants. No tool can guarantee that a place in a reel will suit you; the goal is to make the next decision easier.
Try it: choose tools around one dinner plan
Start with what is missing. If you have an Instagram reel but cannot identify the restaurant, try sending the public post to @holdmypin. If you already have its name and city, a direct Maps search may be sufficient.
After locating the venue, use its own menu and booking channel to check whether it suits your group. A discovery service, a map and a reservation system answer different questions. Keeping the handoffs clear avoids treating a possible location match as a restaurant review or a confirmed booking.
- Discovery: what place is featured?
- Maps: where is the correct branch and how do we get there?
- Venue: does the menu, availability and booking policy work for us?
Give that reel somewhere to go
