The journal / Guide
Tokyo, one neighborhood at a time.
A planning exercise for turning saved Tokyo reels into a flexible shortlist. Choose a few anchors and leave room to explore.

Choose one area for each part of the day
Begin with where you are staying and the places you already plan to visit. Group nearby discoveries before deciding on a schedule. Checking the actual route between two pins matters more than how close they look in a reel.
Use your own saved places to choose the area, then leave enough time to explore it. A flexible neighborhood plan can be more enjoyable than crossing the city to tick off unrelated stops.
Give your saved reels a location
Send a public reel or post to @holdmypin. Review any returned Google Maps link against the venue name, neighborhood and branch shown in the post.
A familiar restaurant name can appear on several listings. Keep the source reel beside your shortlist while you check which place the creator meant. If the clues do not line up, leave it unconfirmed.
Build options around an anchor
Pick one booked activity or priority stop, then identify a nearby meal and a backup. Check opening days and reservation rules on the official venue website before planning the journey.
- One thing you especially want to do.
- A checked route from your starting point.
- A food option that fits the timing.
- Unscheduled time for discoveries.
Make the final choice on the day
Weather, queues and energy levels can change the plan. Use the shortlist to find a sensible alternative instead of treating every saved place as a commitment.
If you need offline map access, arrange it separately with your map app before heading out. A Hold My Pin DM is not an offline navigation system.
Try it: one neighborhood, one unhurried day
For this planning exercise, choose a single neighborhood from the Tokyo reels you have saved. Forward the public posts you are most interested in, then verify the returned names and addresses. Keep the Japanese name too when the venue provides it; it can help you compare listings.
Build the day around one attraction or reservation. Check the transit journey from your accommodation and the walking route to a nearby meal. A place elsewhere in the city may still be worth keeping, but it need not become an extra transfer on this particular day.
- Verify the exact branch and entrance, especially within large buildings.
- Check reservations and current opening days directly.
- Keep another neighborhood as its own day or optional outing.
